Lullaby for the Lost

Wash it all away
Start the day brand new
Don’t let yesterday
Get the best of you

Lay your burden down
Let us carry it for you
You are not alone
We will help you through

When the starlight shines
Through your window
Just close your eyes

And rest your weary heart tonight
In the morning
It’ll be alright…

And you’ll wash it all away
Start the day brand new
Don’t let yesterday
Get the best of you

Lay your burden down
Let us carry it for you
You are not alone
We will help you through

When the starlight shines
Through your window
Just close your eyes

And rest your weary heart tonight
In the morning
It’ll be alright…

And you’ll wash it all away

Someone close to me said that they thought the lyrics were a bit cliché. I wrote this from the perspective of what I would like to be told when I’m at my lowest. What words would comfort me and provide solace? So, yeah, they aren’t inspired lyrics. But then, a cup of hot cocoa isn’t an inspired drink – and a hug isn’t an inspired action. They are comforting and personally meaningful. And I’m okay with that.
